Who is Donald Temple?  He is the Principal of Donald M. Temple. P.C., and practices civil and commercial litigation, with an emphasis on police misconduct and race discrimination.  His firm is located in the heart of the business district in downtown D.C.

Temple grew up in inner-city Philadelphia, wanting to be a priest, far from his now renowned law career.  However, growing us as an alter boy, he often experienced blatant disrespect for the African-American community.  He knew then, what his calling would be.

Most infamously known for his 1997 $1 million settlement against clothing giant, Eddie Bauer, Temple began to make his mark in civil rights issues.  The case involved a 16-year old black male who was sent out of a Maryland location of Eddie Bauer, shirtless, by an off-duty Prince George’s County police officer, for what the officer perceived as stealing by the young man.

During a press conference about the suit, Temple said, “[The incident] epitomizes the dehumanization and stereotyping of young blacks in particular and African-Americans in general.  At some point, these retail giants need to stop treating black people like it’s 1857.”

Temple didn’t stop there.  Many of his cases have been marked by his endless fighting for the equality of the clients he represents.

He has taken on many racial discrimination cases, where employers have neglected to promote African Americans due to bias.  He is currently representing a client who claims she has been the subject of racial discrimination on her federal government job and goes after huge cases where a client is suing a movie writer/director of stealing the concept that went into making an Oscar-winning movie.

Temple has fought and he will fight for you.

He received an LL.M. in international and constitutional law from Georgetown University Law Center in 1982, J.D. from the University of Santa Clara in 1978 and B.A. from Howard University in 1975. He also studied at the Rene Cassin International Institute for Human Rights in Strasbourg, France in 1977. He is admitted to practice law before state and federal courts in the District of Columbia and Pennsylvania, the United States District Courts in the States of Maryland and Michigan, the Third, Fourth and Federal Circuit Courts of Appeal and the United States Supreme Court.
