Uber Comes to D.C.

There’s a new car service in town. It’s more expensive than a taxicab, but also more luxurious. It’s called Uber and it was launched by Limos.com as a premier car service for those who like to travel in style.

According to the website, Uber users have to pay a base minimum of about $15 per trip, but riders don’t incur mileage charges, a distinct difference in taxicabs. Rider’s credit card information is stored so their card is automatically charged and tip is already included in the price.

The company promotes its service by allowing users to download their Uber app to their

smart phones or androids.  Riders can request the service via phone and within minutes, a driver arrives in a sleek black truck or car

Currently, Limos.com is working with about 50 companies across D.C. where it has launched, along with San Francisco.  They aim to server corporate needs with about 1,000 vehicles and plan to expand when they make a bigger public launch later in 2012.
