Legendary Actress Ruby Dee Passes Away at 91

Ruby Dee, whose career spanned over seven decades, passed away Wednesday night in her Rochester, New York home, says daughter Nora Davis Day.

Dee, who frequently acted alongside her late husband, Ossie Davis, was best known for role in the 1961 adaption of Loraine Hansberry’s, “A Raisin in the Sun.”

The multiple award winning actress received an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actress for her role in the 2007 film, “American Gangster.”

According to the New York Daily News, Dee was set to appear opposite Ice-T in the crime-drama, “King-Dog,” which is still in production.
